Disappointment

Her eyes filled with clear, saline fluid
Fists balled;
Crunch, crunch, crunch
The crisp white paper gave in
To her strong grasp.
Regret tugged at her heart
She had known it from the start,
Yet, she did not heed the advice
Of parents, grandparents, friends, teachers.
Only the bright red mark etched in her throbbing mind
F, failure, failure!
She had not made the passing grade.
Who's to blame?
No one, only her.
With that lasting thought,
Salty droplet rolled down her now flushed cheeks once again.
