Son

He walked away, never turning back
His footsteps brushed the smooth surface of the hospital floor quickly
He was frustrated, and really mad at everyone
"Why God, why?"
He clenched his fist, about to punch the lift door
When it opened
He couldn't believe his eyes, or ears
He wouldn't
The news, a supposed joy to every parent in this big world,
was a tragedy to him
Life, itself, seemed to be sucked out of his lungs
It is a girl, congratulations! They said
But his heart plummeted when he heard it
All he wanted was a son
A son who would carry on the family name
A son who would take over his conglomerate
A son who would take care of him when he was weak and his bones brittle
And yet, God didn't give him a son
And Diana gave birth to a girl!
A girl!!
A baby princess! They said
Breaking the hearts of boys,
the future was going to be tough for daddy dearest.
No, he wanted no girl,
he wanted a sturdy baby boy.
